Week 1 - Game Summary
Rochester was solid on both sides of the ball, especially in the trenches, as
the Falcons recorded their first shutout since 2002 with a 28-0 win over L'anse
Creuse North.
Rochester set the tone early as Junior Cody DeVoe capped the opening drive
with a 20-yard TD Run to give the Falcons a 7-0 lead 2 minutes in. Early
in the 2nd Quarter Rochester Junior Kurt Apostol recovered a LCN fumble at
midfield. The Falcons would cash in on the turnover as Senior Diego Camp
would plunge in from 2-yards out for a 14-0 lead. It appeared that the
half would end at 14-0 as Rochester found itself deep in its own zone with 1
minute left in the half and facing a 3rd and long. However Senior QB Nick
Bradley connected with Senior Mike Kmiec for a key first down. Two plays
later Bradley found Senior Luca Cutraro for a 40-yard TD pass with 50 seconds
lef in the half for a 21-0 Falcon lead.
In the 2nd half the Defense took over for Rochester forcing 3 turnovers and
keeping LCN off the board. After Falcon Junior Lawrence Walls recovered a
fumble midway through the 3rd, Bradley and Cutraro hooked up one more time from
8-yards out to finish the scoring. Junior TJ Dean was 4-4 on extra points.
Senior Billy Klotz picked off 2 passes for the Falcons while Seniors Grant
Chenoweth, Marcel Johnson and Nick Reed had solid games for the defense.
Rochester moves to 1-0 on the season. The Falcons will next host Lake
Orion in their Home and League Opener next Friday at 7:00pm
