Falcons Cruise to 42-13 Season Opening Win over LCN.
Rochester jumped
out to a 35-0 lead by the half and cruised to a 42-13 win over L'Anse Creuse North in their season opener. The game
started slow as neither team scored on its opening possession.
However Falcon Senior TJ Dean pinned the Crusaders deep at their own 3
with a 55-yard punt. After a 3 and out and a short punt by LCN,
Rochester wasted little time as Dean ran for a
22-yard TD to open the scoring. The Falcons would strike
again before the end of the quarter as Senior Cody Devoe
scored the first of 3 TD's on a 4-yard run for a 14-0 lead. After
a Dean interception Devoe would score from
8-yards out for 21-0 lead early in the 2nd quarter. The defense
would continue to shut down the Crusaders for the rest of the half as
the Falcons would stretch their lead to 35-0 before the break on a
1-yard plunge by Glancy and a 3-yard run by Devoe. Junior James Ward would add a 4th
quarter TD for the final score.
Leading the
Rochester offense was TJ Dean with 128 total yards. Dean also
had 1 interception. Cody Devoe had
64 yards and 3 TD's while also having a 70-yard TD called back.
James Ward added 54 yards rushing amongst his 74 total yards.. Jack Glancy was
8-11 for 94 yards whiile Sophomore Demetrius
Magee added 2 receptions for 20 yards while also adding 1
interception.
On defense for
the Falcons, Senior Kurt Apostol had 8
tackles while Junior John Doroshewitz
added 2 interceptions.
With the win,
Rochester moves to 1-0 overall. The Falcons will next visit
defending State Champion Lake Orion next Thursday at 7:00pm.
